About Forge Venture Partners
Forge Venture Partners exists to help companies navigate moments where technology, capital, and strategy must align.

Too often, advice in these moments is either overly financial or disconnected from how products and organizations actually work. Forge was built to close that gap, bringing engineering rigor and venture judgment to decisions that shape long-term outcomes.

We work with founders and executives who are building real things, facing real tradeoffs, and who value clarity over momentum for its own sake.
Our Approach
Forge operates at the intersection of technology and finance.
That means we:

-
Respect technical complexity before simplifying it
-
Understand how capital providers evaluate risk and opportunity
-
Focus on readiness, optionality, and durable value creation
We are advisory-first and judgment-driven. Our role is not to push transactions, but to help clients think clearly, prepare intelligently, and act deliberately.
Joe Tenbusch
Founder & Managing Director
Prior to founding Forge Venture Partners, Joe served as an Investment Manager in Magna International’s Corporate Venture Capital group. In that role, he deployed capital into early- and growth-stage startups as well as strategic venture capital funds, while building and managing an investment pipeline across the United States, Israel, and Southeast Asia. His work focused on electrification, advanced manufacturing, and deep industrial technologies, where he collaborated closely with engineering, business unit, and executive leadership teams.

Joe served as a board observer for Magna’s investment in Niron Magnetics, a next-generation materials company developing rare-earth-free permanent magnet technology, and was an industry advisory board member for New System Ventures. These roles deepened his exposure to board-level dynamics, technology risk assessment, and long-term value creation in capital-intensive innovation.

Earlier in his career, Joe was a Manager in Plante Moran’s Management Consulting practice, where he advised a diverse set of clients including the U.S. Department of Energy, multinational automotive suppliers, battery manufacturers, and private equity firms. His work spanned strategy development, operational transformation, and post-merger integration, with a particular focus on advanced energy systems and manufacturing-driven businesses. He also supported M&A integration efforts for global Tier 1 automotive suppliers and battery component manufacturers, gaining firsthand experience in the challenges of scaling and integrating complex technologies.

Joe began his career in commercial and engineering roles at Freudenberg and Mubea, where he worked closely with product, sales, and operations teams. At Freudenberg, he played a key role in the post-acquisition integration of a late-stage lithium-ion battery startup, focusing on the integration of commercial strategy and sales operations within a larger industrial organization. These early operating experiences continue to shape his pragmatic approach to advising founders and executives today.

Joe holds an MBA from Northwood University and graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University, where he also earned a minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He has been recognized as a Global Corporate Venturing Rising Star in both 2023 and 2024.

He currently serves on the boards of the Society of Automotive Analysts and Walsh Ventures, and remains actively engaged in the industrial and venture ecosystems across the U.S. and Israel.
